Dear Sui T. Sutherland,

I love your work on the Wings of Fire series. Your characters really come to life in each series. A also admire how you visit each character in different points of view in different books. My favorite characters at this moment are Darkstalker, Tsunami, Deathbringer, and Moonwatcher. I wish you would continue with the series in some books as one of the 5 dragonets (Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Sunny, or Starflight). I am on book 8 of the main series but I do want to read the book on Darkstalker when he was free.
I recently took a test on which dragonet I am and I turned out to be Glory, the Rainwing. Who were you if you took the test and who is your favorite dragon? I was happy to know I was Glory. How many more Wings of Fire books do you plan on writing?
I love your writing style by adjusting each character’s life and thoughts. All of your stories are amazing.

Sincerely,

Mia Lekika Mayengue

Aunts

Mia Lekika
Aunt Emaline
My aunt is a fun and calm person. I love going on the trampoline and playing mummy. Someday, I want to go to an overnight camp with her. She is part of a chorus so when we are on road trips, we sing along to the radio with her sister. One day, I saw her in these really cool jean shorts. We are both reading the same series so we talk about how excited we are for the new book.

Mummy with My Aunts

Everytime I go to my grandpa’s house, I play with my aunts. Our favorite game is mummy on the trampoline. One person lays down on the floor with their eyes closed then the people with their eyes open go around the other person on the floor saying, “mummy, mummy, come alive.” After saying it 3 times, the person on the floor comes alive with their eyes closed and walks around until they touch someone and they become the mummy.

Human Care

Human Care
Human care is when someone you know or don’t know needs help and you help or you wait until they do get help. Human care is slowly draining away. We need to act on that soon. When I was younger one summer I was in Africa and three houses down from our house were three kids. An older sister about 16, a younger brother about 11, and a younger sister around 7. The oldest sister heard of a party and decided they should go. Their mother was at work and the oldest sister was in charge so they went. When they came back the house was up in flames. The oldest sister forgot to turn off the stove. They all ran in to get clothes and when they were in the house I walked out to the porch with horror to see a house two houses away burning to the ground. The three kids ran out with nothing but burned clothes that was on their own bodies. The firefighters didn’t come for another hour and by then they couldn’t do anything. The whole prairie behind all the houses was a wall of fire. The kid’s mom came about 10 minutes later and a whole crowd of people had grouped around the house. A child of my age, then 5 to be exact, would not understand much of this causing me not to care less like my younger brothers have but something in me told me to care for them. So I sat on that porch for 3 hours watching them and didn’t leave until the house next door took the family in to stay with them until they found a new home. I would have asked my uncle if th y could stay in our house but our neighbors beat me to it. When I sat and watched until that family was safe would be human care.
A True Story

French St Parking (Problem-Solution Essay)

Mia Lekika
Problem-Solution Essay
5/5/17
French St Parking
French St. Parking has been a problem since we moved into our house in 2014. When we come home, the parking is always filled up. People who are not residents come and park in our neighborhood taking up resident parking. Parking permits have even been stolen from our neighbors causing residents to get tickets. When I get home, I always get frustrated by not having any parking spaces. The lack of parking can sometimes make us late. My nanny complains about the parking because sometimes she arrives late due to looking for parking. Parking causes many problems in French Historic Park.
Importance
It is important for residents to have parking spaces because they pay for parking permits. People who live in French Park deserve parking spaces because they live in the neighborhood. People wish they could have easier access to parking. It is also important for guests to have spaces when they visit residents. Residents and their guests should be able to park close to their home.
Cause
This problem is caused by people parking in the neighborhood who are not residents. Non-residents parking in the neighborhood are coming from surrounding businesses and the Orange County School of Arts (OCSA). Workers from Downtown Santa Ana park in French Street as well as people visiting the Downtown businesses. The effect of non-residents parking in the neighborhood is that residents get aggravated, angry, and frustrated. Since permits are not required during the day anyone is allowed to park in the neighborhood. One reason they may be parking in the neighborhood is to avoid paying parking fees. For example, other streets surrounding French Street have pay lots or parking meters and OCSA requires a parking permit. Another reason, is lack of available parking spaces at school or work.

Thesis
Parking has gotten worse as business has been getting larger and more kids enroll to schools in the district. It’s great that the district has been getting more business but the non residents cannot park here so much that residents don’t get any parking.  French Historic Park has a parking problem and a solution is to require permits 24 hours per day and whoever doesn’t have a permit gets a ticket.
Solution
People will be required to have a parking permit both day and night. To begin, parking control should patrol for permits every two hours and ticket anyone without a resident or guest permit. Guests will get their permits from residents or obtain their own permit from the City of Santa Ana. Every resident is limited to 2 parking permits per household and 150 guest permits.
A resident of French Historic Park will bring the parking concern and solution to the City of Santa Ana council. The council may or may not decide to support the solution of changing the parking regulations. As many people from the neighborhood as possible coming together to support the parking solution will increase the odds that the city council will support changing the parking regulations.
Parking regulations should be implemented because they keep guests and residents able to come and go without tickets or restrictions as long as the parking rules are followed. This will also guarantee access to parking for residents and approved guests as needed. In addition, this is a low cost solution that will with the potential to earn money for the city through parking permit fees and parking tickets.
Some people may not want this solution because it will prevent them from parking in the neighborhood and they may have to use paid parking. For example, renters that will not stay long in the neighborhood may not like the idea of paying a permit for two years. And, people from other neighborhood would have to park further from Downtown Santa Ana businesses and events. It may be frustrating for guests or residents to have to get paper permits every time they park in the neighborhood, but they can also get a parking permit that is good for two years that they can stick on their car.
Conclusion
Parking at French Historic Park has been an ongoing problem. It is important for residents and their guests to have parking spaces. We need to have more parking spaces for residents and their guests. To solve this problem, people who don’t have a parking permit during the day or night will get a ticket from the police. This solution is low cost, may earn money for the City of Santa Ana, and likely to be supported by the neighborhood.

The first step to getting these parking regulations passed is to get support from other residents of French Historic Park. Once there is enough support, the residents will attend a City Council meeting. At the meeting, residents will attempt to get the council to support their solution. After the council agrees, the parking regulations will be changed and parking will be improved.

The terra cotta horses are clay horses. The horses are small with short legs and a large chest. I was interested by  this  artwork because they had a different pose and shape. The impressive work for such a long time ago is asstonishing. The clay horses were made for the first chinese emperor's tomb.
Yue-ware spirit jars were used  as storage vessels for chinese tombs. There were 4 small jars surrounding one large jar. The jars looked like small houses. The birds and rats showed that the people of the under world still celebrated life on earth. They  believe that the jars were used for holding the spirit of the person the tomb belongs to.
The chess set that i was interested in. All the pawns were made with a different design on each one. I chose the chess game because it showed beautiful design and detail. The ancient artwork of china is mouth gaping.

Silver Platter
In the book, Escaping from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein, Charles Chiltington was a spoiled character. Charles's family is very rich and always gets their way without working for it. When everything is given to you on a silver platter, you become greedy, you don’t know how to help yourself, and you become entitled.
One of the effects to having whatever your want, whenever you want it, is becoming greedy. In the book, Charles takes things from people and thinks he should get away with it. For example, Charles broke the rules in the game by being reckless with his opponents and the items in the library. By being greedy, he was disqualified from the game.
When you get help on everything that you do, you never learn how to do it yourself. Charles had no opportunities to learn for himself. He learned by memorizing what someone else wrote for him. Learning something for yourself feels great and Charles should experience that feeling, too.
The worst problem of getting everything you want is becoming entitled. Charles thinks the whole world circles around him. In the game, he thought Mr. Lemoncello wanted him to win. As a consequence, he thought he was letting down his family when he didn’t win.

There are benefits of having everything you want, but also some bad effects. Some major effects are becoming greedy, not knowing how to help yourself, and becoming entitled. You can have what you want as long as you work for it.

Flying above I was gracefully balancing on the wind. I looked down to see a vixen prancing across the frozen lake like a water bird chick. As a scavenger its hard to find prey. When the blanket of stars filled the sky and I cleaned myself up in a playful way by rolling in the snow as if I were a dog itching himself. I made a soft crunchy bed from the cold snow under icicles of a cave. As I listened to the water under the frozen surface of the river I slowly fell asleep.

Women's March

written 1/22/17
Women’s Rights March
Women around the world are feeling ignored. Even though they feel ignored, they still watch what’s happening with politics. I recently was at a Women’s Rights March. 20,000 men, women, and children came to stand up for women. I saw inspiring signs that said, “Minority + Minority + Minority = Majority,” “Men of quality don’t fear equality,” and “We can’t change the vote but we can change the world.” All of these signs have inspiring words. Women’s Rights Marches around the world matter to the world.
Marches are one of the best ways to let your voice be heard. The number 1 reason is it usually does not involve violence. When it is peaceful, it can have a big difference. At first, when I heard the crowd’s chants, I thought that they were aggressively yelling but when I listened, they were chanting words that would help with world peace.
I already knew that even before 1848 women wanted more rights (the first group of women had a conference for rights in 1848) but not until now did I realize that not only women thought that women should have more rights. Men, people who are gay, and every group of society believe that women should have more rights. Women have been trying for a long time to have more rights.
When one group tries to make something happen it is strong but when lots of groups stand together it’s so much stronger. Like I’ve mentioned before in this essay at the march many different groups came. You can accomplish so much just by working together from finding something lost to changing the world. Working together has made many things possible.

When lots of people walked the Women’s Rights March around the world it impacted the world. Women will be more and more persistent until they get what they want. I believe women should have more rights and the Women’s Rights Match gets us 1 step closer to more rights for women.
