Hoo's Angry

Choose a character whose life you would like to improve by treating the smudge left by Sam Westing’s thumbprint. Explain why you chose this particular character. Consider what you think will help to improve his or her life.

Hoo’s Angry

Mr. Hoo has a grudge against Sam Westing. First, Mr. Hoo had a great idea for disposable diapers but Sam Westing stole his idea. That caused Sam Westing to put Mr. Hoo on the second story of a building so no one would know of his restaurant. Then, that made Mr. Hoo not get enough money for his son to go to college. Mr. Hoo has bad history with Sam Westing and he should invent something new so he can get over the disposable diaper idea.

When I Was Young

When I Was Young
I remember when I was a girl I lived in New York for 3 years. The cars, traffic, art, and music. It all was so different than my old home on Africa. Almost everywhere I went, people looked at me from my different clothes. I remember running through jungles and villages but here, when I ran, people pushed and shoved. I got holes in my dresses and the smell was like sewer.
I then heard yelling that sounded like sharp knives. As I started to run to it, I heard it louder and louder. Then, I found a dog injured in front of the coffee shop. At the time, I was still learning English so it all looked like letters stuck together. The dog was yelling so loud. I came up to its long shaggy gray hair. Her silver hair blowed in the wind like the river by my old village called Muheree.
“That’s what I’ll call you, Muheree.” Muheree was slightly started by me. I walked up to her gray hair slightly shining from the rain. After a while Muheree learned to love me. Muheree was my partner anywhere I went for all the year later on.

Grace Wexler’s Opinion of Sam Westing

Who is Sam Westing? 5 paragraphs

Grace Wexler’s Opinion of Sam Westing
Hi! My name is Grace Wexler. I am obviously the hier. Mr. Westing was definitely an unlucky man but I hope to be the lucky heir. That would help me make more money so I can be successful just like Sam Westing. I believe I’m very smart just like him. Sam Westing is unlucky, successful and smart just like me.
Like many people, he was very unlucky. First of all, he got into a bet for $3 and got scared out of his socks and lost his $3. Second of all, he got into a horrible car accident and was hospitalized. Finally, according to his mom, he died falling off a cliff. I know I want to be his heir but I hope I don’t get unlucky like him.
Sam Westing was so successful. He became rich just by selling paper. He ran a successful business and owned a large house with lots of maids. Now everyone is fighting over who should be the heir and making me, the true heir, miserable.
Mr. Westing was also smart. He got people to buy his paper. He also got people to be fighting over who gets to be heir even though I’m standing right in front of them. He was a very smart man for choosing me as his heir.

So, like I said, I’m definitely the heir. I agree with what Mr. Sikes said, “Sam Westing is truly a great and important man.” I’m really the only one who even deserves to be his heir. I would be blessed to be the heir of such a smart and successful man. It  was unfair that he was so unlucky.
