UNIT 3 - Summarize Your Learning
What do people gain from the work of inventors and artists?
Stories you read in this unit:
• The Fabulous Perpetual Motion Machine
• Leonardo’s Horse
• The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins
• Mahalia Jackson
• Special Effects in Film and Television
Think About It! Think about the selections you read in this unit.
• How were they alike? How were they different?
All my reading chapters are about art. They were diffrent because each one was not a similar type of art.
• What did you learn?
I learned how lots of arts are similar yet different.
• Write three big ideas about how artists and inventors can inspire others around them.
1. A lot of blues singers were inspired by other religious gospel singers.
2. An inventor who wanted to make dinosaur sculptures inspired others to make dinosaur sculptures better than them and more realistic.
Question It!
What if you had a chance to meet a famous artist or inventor? Write three questions that you would ask him or her.

Special Effects of Shrek the Musical (EXPOSITORY COMPOSITION)
Shrek the Musical is a musical. It was was shown in New York and filmed as a movie. There are many special effects in the musical.
One of the special effects is how they made King Farquat short. There was a man lower in the stage with fake legs in front to make him look short. He better watch out because there are musicians under the stage too.
My favorite special effect was when they went for long walks the hills would move behind them. Another version of this is when they would walk while the ground was moving beneath them as if they were going far away.
Another special effect that I loved was the see through walls. The walls would be see through when you put a light behind the wall and not see through when there wasn't a light. It was a good way to see what was happening inside buildings.
I really liked Shrek the Musical. I rate it very high. There are many special effects to enjoy. I hope you go see it soon. It's not in theaters so you'll have to watch it on Netflix.

Quiet Please (PERSUASIVE ESSAY)
I don't like any music. It's very annoying to me to hear music very much. There is no good music any more! Out of all music I would like classical is my favorite. But even classical is a little annoying to here for me. I like peace and Quit and no sound! I can't work with music on or read, write, or think. There's not much to do with music.
My least favorite music is blues. They say it makes you happy but it never works! There are many things you can do with music if you are a music lover but I am not one of them. Have you ever felt like you were going to blow up because you were so annoyed because well that's how I feel for pop music. I am not a fan of music.
If I do like some kind of music I have not found it. Quietness is the best music you got. You can meditate and hear other people talk with no music on. It's a lot calmer when you are not listing to loud music. Lots of my friends will like some type of music that is not my favorite choice but I learn to live with that.
I play the violin for classical and like playing it for a fun habit. I'm good at it to but I don't like the music that comes from it. I hope I will find music I like but its not looking up for me on that. I've liked music in the past such as rock and country. I would listen to it all the time. I would listen to music after I did homework
I love to practice my beats to see how much over lap in beats I can do but not many musical things to listen to in my house well I think you should like quietness. You can't play music in may places were you're bored because it's probably a special place. well I wonder if you like quietness.
King Tut
I went to a King Tut exhibit for a field trip. I knew all of the stuff there already but it was cool to see all the things I've heard of and seen in pictures in person! My favorite part was an Egyptian game I knew how to play there! That was so cool! That field trip was the best ever!
The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker
I went to the Hot Chocolate Nutcracker and they asked me what the difference is between the ballet of Nutcracker and the Hot Chocolate Nutcracker. Well first off the Hot Chocolate Nutcracker is a musical and the other is a ballet. There have been many remakes of the ballet such as the Nut Nutcracker an animated movie. The Nutcracker itself is a remake. Another thing that is different is the mice don't fight. They come on a journey with Kara and are nice mice. It was a great musical.
